This letter has appeared since this Despatch was written and I am sincerely glad to see that the Viceroy has thus publicly repudiated the action of the Society. I am in hopes that this action on his part may render it possible for the British Minister to urge the Central Government to take action in the suppression of the society, and whose action has been repudiated and condemned by the Viceroy.
I have allowed Mr. Daw, the head of the Firm of Messrs. Butterfield and Swire, to see this Despatch, and I enclose a letter from him and my reply.
